...but I think the milk is spoiled now.
Hi, I'm back again. I'm writing a news post instead of a forum post because I felt that would be a waste of time.
So, how are you doing? Good? Good.
I was interested in a while of starting a "redemption arc" on Newgrounds because my old games suck. One of them is a crappy basic platformer with graphics that look worse than Fancy Pants World 1, and the other isn't even a game (unless you count the secret screen where I hid a demo for said basic platformer), just a yap fest.
I've acquired quite a lot of experience over the past 6 years thanks to a PlayStation UGC game called "Dreams." You know, by the Little Big Planet guys? Quite a handful of my games did well on there (one of them won a jam, and a few of my games were played on stream), despite the janky craftsmanship of most of them. It's also where I wrote my first peices of music, and for a while after before I moved to Ableton.
It was a fun time with ups and downs. BUT I HAVE MOVED ON AND YOU AND I SHOULD BE IN THE NOW.
A month ago I finally sat my ass down and learned how to code, following a course on Unity Learn. I was fully expecting to still not get it, but here I am skin-deep into my first game. Granted, it's small and won't be on Steam, but you know what they say "gotta start small" or whatever.
So here's a sneak peek at what I'm hacking away on:

That's right, it goes in the square hole
I don't know why it's skipping frames in the GIF but I hope that gives you an idea of what this is.
Game's called It Fits in the Hole. You're a shape who can change into other shapes. There are bubbles with holes in them and you need to be in the right shape to pop them. Originally it was going to be released on Android but money got tight so on the interwebs it is.
I'm quite surprised I managed to get this far in development. Even in 2024 I just gave up because I get snagged in things I didn't know how to fix, and I was using visual scripting at the time because my monkey brain exploded when I saw a line of computer text. I always used to think I was simply too dumb to make games, that this was only for smart people who knew math and computer science. I'm glad I managed to dispel that theory.
I'm even working on another project but THAT'S A SECRET FOR NOW SHH.
Okay I'm talking too much... I'm barley active here so if you want to see what I'm up to check the links on the left ok bye
